It's not August 10th, which is National S'mores Day, but here at the Church of Poutine, we are still celebrating with our S'mores Poutine.
Did you know that the term "S'mores" is just a contraction for "Some More," and invented in the 1920s? Did you know the Girl Scouts of America take credit for coming up with the idea?

When I was little, I would stick a marshmallow on a wooden skewer & hold it over a candle. I would attempt to make s'mores with a tealight candle. It never quite came out tasty, and always tasted a little like wax. I didn't mind - I was like eight years old.
Now, I wanted to recreate that weird & special treat, but in a more "grown up" fashion. Hence, the S'mores Poutine.

The competition of sweet versus salty is the real key here. There's actually no winner, as they compliment each other so well. You've seen our awesome french fries, and gravy and cheese curds! But, this time the gravy is chocolate syrup, the cheese curds are marshmallows, and the salty french fries are mixed together with honey graham sticks. It's all topped with a sprinkle of powdered sugar, and a sprig of mint from our 78704 garden.
You'll feel like you're out camping; in front of the fire, telling ghost stories, and singing camp songs. I've actually never camped before, so I don't know what I'm talking about. You'll have to ask Mike Church about the outdoors and nature, because that is not my cup of tea.

S'mores comes in all forms : ice cream, pop tarts, milkshakes, brownies, & cupcakes, so why not add a S'mores Poutine to the list? It's sweet and savory. It's traditional and new. It's childlike and adult. It's a dessert and a meal. It's reasonable and unreasonable. It's a one of a kind dish.
